Circle of Out-takes

Dollar Talk

You talk of dollars and how to spend.
I stop my ears with dreams against
your budget logic, and pretend
I'm chasing you through Africa,
nude of course, and you at once
know I don't listen to what you say.
"Five minutes, love. Help me decide
which bill we pay and which let go,
and then I'll come with you to play."
You talk again of bills and I nod
as though I heard. "You do what you
just said," I say, and know you've guessed
I'm dreaming I rescued you from snow
and drooling wolves in the far Northwest.
